The Tym Guitars Tym Savage Toecutter Deluxe is a hand-built distortion pedal based on the early 80's "white face" RAT circuit. This deluxe version offers multiple clipping options, including silicon, double silicon, and red LED, along with a "shape" control for tonal flexibility. It includes a bypass footswitch to set a rhythm and lead volume. Explore this RAT-inspired distortion pedal for a range of sounds from mild to full, with plenty of output.
This is my Tym version of the original early 80's "white face" RAT circuit. The deluxe RED version here uses the same (very) slightly modified custom Tym PCB with original LM308 IC and silicon diode clipping as the GREEN version with some added extras. It keeps the original tone intact with components based on the first small box version. The Deluxe version has controls for Distort, Filter and Level like the standard but also has a mini toggle switch for clipping options with standard silicon, double silicon which gives more volume and clarity, and red LED clipping the same as the Turbo RAT which gives even more volume. It also also has a mini toggle for "shape" which is a common mod on RAT clones around the distortion filtering and gives a cleaner, more open tone with a modified bottom end. This is more noticeable with the distortion at lower settings. The deluxe version also has the volume bypass footswitch like the Fuzz Munchkin so you can essentially set a "rhythm" volume and switch this for a "lead" volume.
These are a mild to full sounding distortion with a simple filter with nice harmonics and plenty of output. Check my blog for more details.
All of my pedals are hand made by me here in Brisbane, Australia using locally sourced components where possible and custom made enclosures. All the Tym effects on this site are constantly being hand made and uploaded for sale as they become available. I do not do presales/preorders or holds on ANY of my hand made stuff. Keep an eye on my social media for what's coming up and when it will be available. Check my blog for more info. All power supplies are std BOSS style adaptors unless noted otherwise. None of my pedals use batteries.
