The Tym Guitars Tym Fuzz Box FY-2 is a hand-built fuzz pedal based on the classic Shen-ei FY-2, also known as the Univox "wedge" fuzz. This two-transistor fuzz delivers vintage fuzz tones, with a boost section for added volume and versatility. Handmade in Brisbane, Australia, the pedal uses locally sourced components. This is my version of the great Shen-ei FY-2 fuzz from Japan in the 60’s. Made by Honey and sold under many names worldwide but best known as the Shen-ei or Univox “wedge” fuzz this is an early simple 2 transistor fuzz that in original form didn’t reach unity volume when engaged. My version uses NOS C945 transistors like some of the originals.
The Deluxe also has a single transistor BOOST section after the fuzz for more volume and variety. This is engaged by the slider switch marked BOOST.
