RAT

The RAT sits perfectly between fuzz, overdrive, and distortion. Its LM308 op-amp clipping and versatile Filter control gave it unmatched flexibility. Used by Nuno Bettencourt, Thurston Moore, and Metallica, it became a genre-spanning tool. Its descendants include the Turbo RAT, You Dirty RAT, and boutique clones like the Walrus Iron Horse and JHS All-American. The RAT is also the direct ancestor of the Marshall Guv’nor and other distortion/AIAB pedals.
